Interested to know your view on conservatories? I’ve got a couple of clients who are pulling theirs down because they find them impractical; cold in the winter and too hot in the summer. Advances in glass technology and temperature controls mean this can now be avoided if you’re building a new one, but with many of the older, cheaper ones, it’s too expensive to retrofit this kind of kit. I hope we see a resurgence with these advances - I dream of one like this by @roman_and_ivy

Behind this door lies an incredible organisation set up to help parents of very sick children. I stayed the night here on Friday with my friend after her young daughter was rushed to hospital with a brain tumour. @sickchildrentrust provides comfort and refuge metres away from the children’s hospital. A place for families to sleep, shower and eat during the toughest times without having to worry about the cost. It’s a charity relying on donations (you can sponsor a night from £40) and I’m ashamed to say I’d not heard of them before. It’s a long road ahead but things are looking positive for Lola ❤️‍🩹

I’ve spent the day re-learning the original software I trained on to produce floor plans and visualisations. They’re a great way to help clients see how their rooms will potentially look. So I thought it fitting given all the Jubilee celebrations to show you the room and floor plan of The White Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace. These were expertly produced by architect Jelena Popovic. I’m not quite back up to this standard yet 😜

One of my favourite presents was from my talented 14 year old daughter Thea. I’ve adored this painting by Dutch artist Kees van Dongen for yonks and she very kindly and patiently painted it as a surprise for my birthday. It’s an annoying fact that beautiful old pieces

It’s an annoying fact that beautiful old pieces of furniture can attract woodworm. I have some clients say they won’t buy these stunning bits of furniture in case they’re riddled with the critters. But it’s quite easy to get rid with a can of woodworm oil and a bit of elbow grease (that job fell to my other half today). Swipe to see the telltale holes - woodworm is active if there’s ‘frass’ which is fine sawdust around the holes, usually near the joints of furniture. Anyway a couple of coats and it’s good as new. Love what you find with old furniture - a slightly weird clown poster written in French was hidden at the back of the drawers 🤡🤡

Looking for cocktail cabinets for a client….and stumbled across this. It’s a decommissioned cluster bomb from the 70s that’s been turned into a bar! Best thing to do to all bombs. Though at £35k I sadly won’t be featuring this one in my house anytime soon @1stdibs
